A collection of links to videos of melodeon players collated by Darren Bottoms from the postings of the good people of the Melodeon.net forums.
- Melodeon videos grouped by GENRE (Cajun, English, French, French Canadian, Italian etc)
- Melodeon videos grouped by INSTRUMENT TYPE (1 row, 2 row, 2.5 row, etc)
Purpose of the Video Links Page (VLP)
The VLP is to illustrate the different melodeon types and the styles in which they are played from all around the world.
VLP Guidelines
1) The VLP is not a replacement for the current video and recordings page on the Mel.Net forum. The current video and recording board will be kept as is so that members can add links to their heart’s content.
2) Videos linked from the VLP must be played to at least a semi-professional standard with good picture and sound quality. (There will be some slack on the picture and sound quality as (i) most – if not all - video upload sites such as YouTube compress the video (ii) historical video may not be good quality to start with but would be of interest)
3) A reasonable proportion of the video should feature the player. So for example a morris dancing video could be included provided the player is as much the "star" as the dancing
4) Only one clip per player – if a better clip turns up it will replace the existing one.
Exception 1: if the player plays more than one type of melodeon (like John Kirkpatrick on British Chromatic, two-row and one-row) then a clip of each box type may be allowed.
Exception 2: where a player plays in a wide range of styles one clip of each style may be permitted.
Who Decides? The videos are decided by the moderator of the VLP. The decision of the moderator is final.
